Well, there's already been a test of Romney's ability to strengthen support for McCain, specifically in Nevada - AND HE FAILED MISERABLY! And THAT was just with the Republicans!

Romney went to the Nevada GOP Convention and spoke in favor of McCain. He said that he wanted everyone to back John McCain. Since he won over 50% in the caucuses the conventional (pun not intended) wisdom was that he would be able to easily get the vote for National Convention Delegates to be in favor of the presumtive nominee, McCain. But, caucuses are easily won by those who have the money to simply out-organize their opponents. That is 1 of 3 major factors that allowed Mitt Romney to win the Nevada Caucuses. The other factors were 2) Large Mormon population and 3) He campaigned in Nevada because he was losing so badly in South Carolina, where everyone else remained (despite that he outspent all other candidates in South Carolina advertising). So, after Romney tried to convince the Nevada State Conventioneers to get behind McCain, if was obvious what an embarrassing shell his majority caucus win was, as they couldn't even finish the convention and had a walkout, due to the fact that even the Ron Paul people were kicking their tails. If you weren't aware of it, just You Tube it, but I warn you, it ain't pretty!

Therefore, knowing all of this, NOBODY can ever convince me that his 8% Mormon population in Nevada is a good reason to put him on the ticket. If he can't even help McCain to win the Republican's support there, he sure isn't going to put him over the top in the General Election, there.

I'd rather have somone on the ticket who would get all of the votes that McCain had difficulty with. The rural and southern voters mainly. McCain did very well in the primary in all of the places that Democrats perform well. He needs help with the Republican's base. Gov. Huckabee would be the only wise choice, here.

It appears that it’s all down to Alaska Gov Sarah Palin or Mitt Romney, and team Romney fears Palin now has the best shot, so Romney camp is mounting a blogosphere-wide assault via Politico.

The tip-off that Politico is just a “promote Romney” piece is that it mentions EVERY NAME in the next two tiers of Veep prospects EXCEPT SARAH PALIN!!! — even names far more unlikely than Palin (since Romney camp knows Palin is the ONLY ONE who tops — I’ll say tops by far — Romney as McCain’s best pick).

Bottom line, Romney and Politico fear Palin most — as do the Dems and the MSM. (By the way, the Dems and MSM do not fear Romney the most — which says a lot.)

AOL, a main on-line pro-Obama/pro-Dem player, is now carrying the Politico piece promoting Romney buzz.

Clearly AOL wants McCain and the GOP to lose the general elction — hence they gladly promote Romney (no mention of Palin).

Also, CNN had Romney — kind of out of the blue — attacking Obama. Again, CNN, wanting McCain and the GOP to lose, gladly promotes Romney (to attempt to avert the Palin threat).

All the media frenzy which will surround the remarkable Palin “story” — essentially free to McCain — will be worth millions and millions of dollars of coverage and PR (more money than Romney would provide anyway).

If you can sum up a person's entire contribution to the political campaign with the phrase "flip-flopping Mormon" then why do we need to consider anything else you say ?

Just a note about myself. I was raised a Republican & have held many party offices including 8 years on the Pulaski County Republican Committee, Vice President of the Arkansas College Republicans & Region 6 Co-Director of the National College Republicans.

Although I am liberal on many social issues and environmental issues I remain conservative on fiscal issues.

Mike Huckabee was the beginning of the end of my relationship with the party & Bush Junior was the final straw.

If the Republicans ever return to me, I would return to them.

I have but one question: Could someone please tell me, what is a Pro-Choice Republican? How could any sane, moral person call themselves a Republican if they support the taking of an innocent life because of someone else's actions (their mother and father) of which they have no control over. McCain needs to buckle down and get back to his grassroots. He is a conservative all the way; some would dare to say more so than Bush. He has even been called by some a "neo-conservative". After McCain and Erickson, the Republican motto should be changed to "Honest, Honesty, Honesty...." because if you ain't got it, you need to get packin'.

Nobama, No Way

How many biblical references could one have used in the name of uniting religions? To have chosen the violent versus and old testament views suggests anything but peaceful unification.

What is the reason a presidential candidate is running on a religious platform?

The fist time I ran across this speech was on a Muslim website...
