Can you imagine Dennis Milligan doing this?  Me neither…

UPDATE:

Per Jon Martin…

Dear Chairman Daves,

From the beginning of this election, I have been committed to running a respectful campaign based upon an honest debate about the great issues confronting America today. I expect all state parties to do so as well. The television advertisement you are planning to air degrades our civics and distracts us from the very real differences we have with the Democrats. In the strongest terms, I implore you to not run this advertisement.

This ad does not live up to the very high standards we should hold ourselves to in this campaign. We need to run a campaign that is worthy of the people we seek to serve. There is no doubt that we will draw sharp contrasts with the Democrats on fundamental issues critical to the future course of our country. But we need not engage in political tactics that only seek to divide the American people.

Once again, it is imperative that you withdraw this offensive advertisement.

John McCain

Jon Martin makes a good point…

First, the most obvious: With Hillary’s 10-point win, the Democratic primary goes on and she has a better rationale to say in the race.

Now, poking inside the numbers: Once again, Obama’s weaknesses among blue-collar and rural voters are exposed for all the world  to see (including GOP strategists devising fall targets).   He lost 60 of 67 counties in Pennsylvania.

But, again, it’s not just that he lost so many rural and blue-collar communities — it’s the margin with which he lost them.   Despite over a month of campaign time with more retail and fewer big rallies, millions of dollars in media and true-blue Keystone validation in the person of Bob Casey, Obama lost by 20% or more in county after county.  He appears locked in a demographic rut, regardless of momentum, inevitability, his style of campaigning or who endorses him.

It definitely seems as if Obama will have problems in Rural America, which could be good news for states where rural voters dominate…Like Arkansas…

Advertising is key to winning an election.  Elections are all about defining yourself and your opponent to the electorate.  If you win the definition battle, you win.  It’s that simple.  Most people think that the candidate with the most money wins the election.  That is not the case and if you don’t believe me just look at John McCain and Mike Huckabee, both low on the money totem pole but 1st and 2nd in the primary.  It is more about having a good ad team that knows how to drive a message.  The formula for winning an election would probably look like this:

Money/Message=Victory

You need to have a good message, just ask Mitt Romney.  A ton of money but no message.   He knew what to say as far as conservatism goes, but he didn’t have a message.

Group Questions Dustin McDaniel’s Ability to Decide Fate of Illegal Immigration Ballot Initiative Due to Campaign Contributions

( Little Rock , Arkansas – April 21, 2008) Keep Arkansas Legal researched Attorney General Dustin McDaniel’s campaign filings and found that over $36,000 has been contributed to him by individuals directly related to The Arkansas Friendship Coalition, a group opposed to Secure Arkansas’ ballot initiative concerning state-funded benefits provided to illegal aliens. The head of the Arkansas Friendship Coalition, Steve Copley, said his group intends to fight the measure proposed by Secure Arkansas, according to the Associated Press.

“Our findings raise serious questions about the impartiality of our Attorney General since he has received over $36,000 from members of a group that is directly and actively opposed to a measure he is deciding on,” said Kenny Wallis, President of Keep Arkansas Legal. “$36,000 is a lot of money by any standard in politics, and Arkansas law gives the Attorney General total control of the process of approving a ballot initiative for placement on the ballot.” Wallis went on to say, ” Arkansas voters deserve to know who might be influencing the Attorney General’s decision on an issue as important as their right to vote on a ballot measure concerning illegal immigration. $36,000 is a lot of influence, and voters should know that.”

So here’s the deal…Contact the AG…Dustin McDaniel…ask why he is taking money from this group…ask if that is stopping him from doing his job…TELL HIM YOU WANT THIS ON THE BALLOT!!!…(501) 682 2007 or 1-800-482-8982…

A true conservative shall be known for three areas…

  1. He shows an in-depth knowledge of the economy.  He understands and believes in the work of Adam Smith and Milton Friedman.  He knows the best thing this country has going for it is the free market and also knows the dangers of government intervention in the market.
  2. He understands that we can’t tax the people for more than is needed.  He knows that we always need to be looking for areas to make cuts.  He is a budget guru and with the precision of a surgeon, cuts the fat out of government.
  3. He is committed to the family values that make this country great.  The cause of the unborn child is what drives this man at his toughest hour.  He fights because he believes that 1.6 Million abortions a year is a moral evil.  He knows that the Father-Mother model works the best and therefore will fight to defend traditional marriage.  This country was built on values and it is what makes us different from the rest of the world.

If a man can’t pass the test on ALL of these areas, he needs a primary opponent ASAP.

More on The Playbook later…

Duncan Baird and Vickey Boozman showed why they are my choices for seperate State Representative seats…If we send another Bisbee down there we might as well have them count for the Democrats because thats who they will caucus for…Vote for Duncan and Vickey…Don’t send Liberals like Linda Bisbee and Tim Summers to Little Rock…

Duncan Baird of Lowell, a candidate for the Republican nomination in District 95, said at a forum Friday that he would have voted against the increase. His opponent in the May 20 primary, Linda Bisbee of Rogers, said she would have voted for it.

A similar split exists in the District 99 race between Republicans Vickey Boozman of Cave Springs and Tim Summers of Bentonville. Boozman is against the tax increase; Summers is for it.

Baird said a couple of times during the forum, sponsored by the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce, that he thinks highways are a crucial investment for Northwest Arkansas.

“I’ll be an advocate of any mechanism that brings more money for roads to our area,” he said. He said after the forum that his statement doesn’t include raising taxes on Arkansas families.

Experts on the natural gas industry have said the increased tax won’t add to consumers’ gas bills because the price of natural gas is based on a national market rate that the Arkansas tax wouldn’t change.

Bisbee said she hopes that’s true and that’s one reason she would have voted in favor of the tax increase. Her husband, state Sen. Dave Bisbee, R-Rogers, voted for it.

Boozman said she believes the tax will trickle down to consumers, no matter what the industry officials say.

Summers said that may be true, but the state can’t provide more services without more revenue.

“If we want roads, we’re going to have to pay for them,” he said.

Baird and Bisbee clashed again Friday on the question of ethics rules for legislators — whether it’s OK for a lawmaker to accept meals and other entertainment from lobbyists.

Baird said that he favors a ban on legislators accepting gifts and meals and that he wouldn’t take any.

“There’s a sense of entitlement when you go down to Little Rock and you become a part of the culture of the Capitol where legislators — they think they deserve special things,” he said.

Bisbee said it’s more important to elect people with integrity and maturity, people who can work with all kinds of people for the good of Northwest Arkansas.

She held up a sign sitting on the table in front of her, which said the forum was sponsored by Arvest Bank Group and AT&T.

“The culture of the Capitol reaches out, Mr. Baird,” Bisbee said. “Look who bought your lunch.” After the forum, Baird said that he’d like for the Arkansas Legislature to pass an ethics law similar to Wisconsin’s. There, a lawmaker can’t take meals, among other gifts, from lobbyists unless the meal is at an event open to the public.

Friday’s forum, attended by about 50 people, was open to the public.

Great News on the fight to end Abortion…

Pro-life groups are praising the Oklahoma House of Representatives and Senate for overriding the governor’s veto of a bill that strengthens an Oklahoma law that requires that pregnant women be told where they can obtain a free ultrasound and fetal heart tone services before an abortion.

The bill, SB 1878, requires that at least an hour before an abortion, an abortionist must perform an ultrasound and display the image of the unborn baby so the mother can see it if she chooses.

“By strengthening the ultrasound provision of their law, the Oklahoma legislature has created the strongest, most protective ultrasound law in the nation,” said Mary Spaulding Balch, National Right to Life state legislative director.

“They are doing everything possible to ensure that a mother is given the opportunity to see her unborn child in real-time and learn all the facts before making the life and death decision of abortion,” she said in a statement. “Simply put, the abortion decision cannot be undone. Women deserve all facts.”

“Gov. [Brad] Henry said that it’s ‘unconscionable’ for pregnant victims of rape or incest to be offered this choice. What is truly unconscionable is Governor Henry’s abandoning these women to people whose only interest is making money off of their suffering,” Janet Morana, co-founder of Silent No More Awareness Campaign (SNMAC).

The bill would also provide protections for health care workers who object to taking part in an abortion.

“We have heard the testimonies of thousands of women who have been victimized and traumatized by abortionists,” Georgette Forney, another co-founder of SNMAC, said. “This bill is truly needed to protect a woman’s right to informed consent and to protect the rights of health care workers.”

Thirteen states, including Oklahoma, have laws making provisions for an abortionist to provide an ultrasound to pregnant women prior to an abortion. Those states are: South Dakota, Ohio, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Utah and Wisconsin.

The showdown has been set because of the flip flopping Governator…

California’s governor spoke Friday in San Diego at the convention of the Log Cabin Republicans, the nation’s largest gay Republican group.

He has previously vetoed bills that would have legalized gay marriage. A Schwarzenegger spokeswoman did not say what prompted the governor to shift his position.

Schwarzenegger said he was confident a ban would never pass in California and called the effort “a waste of time.”
