State Sen. David Bisbee, R-Rogers, failed to pay almost $1,800 in property taxes by the Oct. 10 deadline, according to Benton County tax records.
Bisbee, a local developer, is seeking the Republican nomination for Benton County judge.
Bisbee said financial problems brought on by a $3 million debt from a subdivision development on Arkansas 12 near Bentonville prevented him from paying the taxes on time.
The contractor he hired did poor work that had to be redone, Bisbee said. Bisbee sued the contractor and won a $876,300 judgment, but the contractor filed bankruptcy. Bisbee said he hasn’t received any money the jury awarded.
The delays for repairs and downturn in the economy prevented Bisbee from closing on lots, he said. The bank claimed the Arkansas 12 property, Bisbee said.
Bisbee used money from his retirement fund to pay some of the $3 million debt and negotiated terms with Arvest Bank in Rogers to deed more than 8 acres on Arkansas 94 East near Rogers on Nov. 29. He said it was the bank’s responsibility to pay $417 in taxes on that property.
Bisbee’s wife, Linda, paid $1,382 in overdue taxes Nov. 28 for the couple’s home, cars and a boat dock.

Dave Bisbee voted to raise my taxes. He voted to give amnesty to illegal aliens. Plus, he has voted against pro-life legislation. Neither of the Bisbees will ever get my vote again.
