I am trying to refrain from saying something really negative about this quote, but I am also trying really hard not to bust up laughing:
Republican presidential candidate and self-described “recovering foodaholic” Mike Huckabee says today (Saturday) that an obesity epidemic could cause serious problems for the American economy.
Huckabee, speaking at the Southern Governors’ Association convention in Biloxi, Mississippi, says obesity is even a threat to national security.
Huckabee wondered who would fight the war on terror if the next generation is so overweight that its members are too sick to show up to work.
I can’t help but wonder if Huckabee is squandering his opportunity to gain major momentum after Ames by continually downplaying the War on Terror while talking about obesity and federally funded music programs, and having one of the Kings of Pork chair your congressional team – and boasting about it…

I agree with Gov. Huckabee on this. I have seen during my time in the military how this affected recruitment and retention. If obesity rates continue to rise it will be a national security issue.
